Fetal Heart Detector / Doppler Use
How do I use my fetal doppler?The best way to begin an exam is to be lying down exposing the abdomen, although it may be possible to find the heart rate in a sitting or standing position. Apply a generous amount of ultrasound gel to the fetal Doppler probe. Early in pregnancy the best technique is to begin with the transducer (probe) on the midline of the abdomen (above the pubic line) aiming downward behind the pubic bone. The probe should then be angled slowly in search for the fetal heart rate. Be patient, early in pregnancy the size of the fetal heart is so small and the sound so faint it can be very easy to pass over and miss the sounds. A full bladder can make it easier to find the heartbeat. Try to keep from dragging the probe around as it will only increase static and make it more difficult to find the heartbeat.When can I start using a fetal doppler?In some woman the fetal heart can be detected as early as 8-12 weeks. The fetal heartbeat should be audible 95% of the time in 12-week pregnancies, and nearly 100% of the time after 14 weeks. Earlier in pregnancy, between 8-12 weeks, your success in finding the heart rate can have to do with the quality of your device. Fetal dopplers that employ a 2 mghz probe tend to pick up the fetal heart rate earlier than 3 mghz fetal dopplers as they have a more defined beam which penetrates deeper (3-5cm compared to 1-2cm). An important note is to remember that everyone is different, so not finding your baby's heartbeat early isn't a reason for concern. If you have concerns about your pregnancy you should contact your healthcare provider. Like the numbers above reflect nearly 100% of woman are able to hear the fetal heartbeat from the 14th week.How often can I use my fetal doppler?There is no scientific research available to suggest that ultrasound is unsafe. In 2002, the British Medical Ultrasound Society issued a statement confirming that there has never been any evidence of harm resulting from the use of ultrasound in pregnancy. However, the technology behind ultrasound scanning is complicated, and it's important to remember that this research was based on the work of health professionals who have training and guidance for its use. While there is no evidence as yet that dopplers are harmful in any way, there is also no research available to show the effects of a mother using a Doppler to listen to her baby two or three times a day throughout pregnancy. As a general rule an exam with a fetal doppler should never last longer than 10 minutes. If you don't find the heartbeat in this period of time, take a break. If youre concerned contact your health care provider. If not, try again in a few days.How do I know I'm hearing my baby's heartbeat and not mine? The easiest and most conclusive way to decipher your heartbeat from your baby's is by the heart rate or BPM (beats per minute). Your baby's heart rate will be between 120

I have had many people email asking for information for "First-Time Camping" tips.So, I've compiled all my thoughts together to write this guide.Firstly, and most importantly, each time I get one of these emails, people don't seem to comprehend or understand that the kind of equipment you will need first time out depends on many variables; Such as location, time of year, enviroment, weather, duration of stay. It can be very hard to provide any 100% accurate estimate of what you will need without this information, I've always asked those who email me,to email me direct with such information, but for reasons only known to themselves, very few do.Thus the reason for this guide been written.Some initial things to consider:How many people will be camping?Are there children camping to?Duration of stay?Does any person require specialist medicines or treatment?The environment in which your camping?What facilities are available?How far you will be from the nearest town/city?The season of year?1. HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE CAMPING:This is important to know before any camping trip, as you will base what food/liquids you take upon this number. And also for some areas you may be required to let relevant authourites know where your intending to camp, and how many people are in your group.2. ARE THERE CHILDREN CAMPING:Kids (most of them!) love camping. But children also have different requirements to that of us adults.Some, especially teenagers, may not be so keen on the bush dunny method of toileting, little things like this need to be taken into consideration. Also kids can become bored very easily, so you will need to plan for rainy days when you will be confined to the tent. A school holiday camp which may be a week or more?Knowing how long you intend to stay is important in knowing what supplies to take. At present, Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton and the house of Dior are suing eBay for the huge amount of fakes up on eBay, alleging over the past 5 years, 90% of the handbags on display at any one time are fake. eBay are of course claiming otherwise, but my suggestions about the ability to eliminate results from certain countries have been ignored.RIGHTSTo have questions answered about authenticity and the source of a particular itemFor reasonable shipping price and quotesFor genuine merchandiseFor a refund if the product proves to be fakeTo not have to pay for shipping back a counterfeit product- if the seller tries to make you do it, open a dispute against them in your 'dispute console' under MyeBay.RESPONSIBILITIESTo prove the item is fake if you think it is- the burden of proof lies on the buyer, unfortunately. If recovering your money is that important, you will go and visit shops and experts ASAP (within three days), contact the seller about a refund, and/or open a dispute.To check feedback- has a seller sold things thought "fake" before? Is there enough feedback to work out if this person is selling genuine merchandise?To ask questions and do your homework- Would there be a lot of genuine Dior in Singapore/China?To pay via legitimate channels and obey eBay rules so that you can take advantage of its remedies.To file complaints in eBay against sellers who sell fake merchandiseTo use common sense- as if you can buy a Louis Vuitton wallet for $10...unless it's well-used.PITFALLSNever assume a seller with a lot of feedback sells only genuine merchandise, or that one selling a lot of merchandise is genuine. On two occasions I have dealt with sellers who will give me a refund after I claim the item is 'fake'/'a copy'...sellers fear being tarred with the 'fake' brush. If they can escape it, for every one return, they'll have five suckers who won't be bothered. I have been sold fakes from the US, UK and Australia, 2/3 imported from Asia. Those selling a lot usually are selling a truckload of fakes- be very careful when buying from large sellers. Never buy designer goods/label goods/anything of value from Asia- they're almost always fake/worthless. Be on the lookout for sellers importing direct from Asia. If the seller speaks poor English, this can also be an indication. High postage costs can be a giveaway.Designer goods are made in Italy, France, and the US usually. Why would Asia be able to sell you an imported designer good for a lower price than its sold from its home region?Any goods claiming to be made other than Western Europe/the US is a FAKE.

They are just lines ro reel you in on.How it worksThe Scam Artist - let's call him Joe Blow - gets some photos off the internet, either from a bike/car fan site or a classified ad and lists it for sale on E-bay using a stolen username and password or a new account with zero feedback.Joe will often make up some story about how his E-bay email account doesn't work for some bull reason and you will need to deal with him direct through his web based email from one of the usual providers.If you win the auction or use the buy it now option Joe will obligingly send you bank accouint details for an offshore bank in the US, UK, Spain, France, Romania or some other country nowhere near here. In exchange you will get a routing number, tracking number or some other useless string of digits supposedly enabling you to claim the bike which is currently "on hold" in a warehouse or "in transit". Once the funds have cleared scammer disappears along with your money. A few weeks later you lodge a complaint with E-bay but it's too late.How to recognise a Scam AdScam Ads follow are pretty easy pattern to recognise if you know what to look for:1. The seller id will be a new user with zero feedback. OR2. The seller account will be old with a good score but either registered in another country or with a noticeable gap in activity. IE: The person stopped using their E-bay account and the scammer hacked it. OR3. The scammer uses a phishing scam to hack an existing/live account. Look for a woman who normally sells teddy bears who is suddenly branching out into Harleys.4. There will be a Buy it Now option either in Ebay format or as a written in option in the item description. The price will be well below the normal value of the item.5. There will be an aol. com, yahoo. com. hotmail. com
How To Apply FOUNDATION The Correct Way
Max Factor created foundation in the 50's to help film stars look flawless on the big screen and it was a hit because it gave the illusion of perfect skin. Today, foundations come in a variety of formulas to suit every skin type. Besides making your skin look good they can also have added ingredients to help in other ways: Sunscreens guards against the ageing effects of the sun, Light Reflecting Pigments bounce light off the skin, making is look smoother and blemish free. First step is to dot the foundation onto the forehead, cheeks, chin and nose - you can use either your fingers or a sponge. Step two is to blend the foundation ouwards across the cheeks, forehead adn nose. Fade it out gradually down to the jaw adn towards the hairline. NEVER blend upwards as this will clog in our facial hairs and eyebrows! Third step is to use your ring finger to dot conealer around your eyes and gently pat it in. Don't put it on your lids as it can cause eye shadows and creams to crease. The fourth and final step is for a better blended and more even finish, sweep the clean side of a sponge over your face, then do a final check in natural daylight. Buying A Trombone - another view
After reading the "Buying A Trombone" guide by oh_gabe, I thought I might add a few useful pointers of my own. If you are reading this guide you probably are buying a trombone for the first time. You might not know what features of a trombone are important to a new trombonist.First of all, anyone thinking about playing trumpet, trombone, or tuba should look up their local Brass Band. Municipal Brass Bands own a stock of instruments that they will loan you for free or for a pittance, most will give free tuition, and most are always looking for new players to join them. If you try the trombone but you think a cornet or tuba would be more fun, you can switch, no instrument to sell or return to the rental agency. Brass bands are social, and fun.Back to trombones - I would recommend a "medium bore" Bb tenor trombone by an established manufacturer. "Medium bore" means an instrument whose tubing is approximately 0.500 inches, or 12.7mm, in diameter. Medium bore trombones have been the standard trombones for beginning to intermediate players for at least 30 years in Australia. Bb means that the notes produced in the first position (slide fully closed) is a harmonic series of Bb. Tenor means that the normal range of notes produced (after a few lessons and a bit of practice) match the male tenor voice.By established manufacturer, I refer to Yamaha, Bach, Blessing, Boosey and Hawkes, Conn, Getzen, Holton, King, Jupiter. These are manufacturers that have been making trombones for a very long time, some more than 100 years, and they make good student and "professional" quality instruments. As I am focussing on the beginner to intermediate player, I have excluded manufacturers such as Edwards, Courtois, Glassl, Rath, Shires; these are very fine manufacturers as well, but their focus is on "professional" models only.A new trombone player shouldn't be concerning himself or herself too much with discussions about Conn 88H against Bach 42B against Edwards T350 etc. These are all very fine instruments, and there are any number of famous professional players that will put their name to any well known brand.Short answer is -- anyone that has played the trombone for a couple of years and wishes to continue, will have decided what kind of trombone sound they want, and will do some research and go into music stores and play the instruments there to find one that suits their style and budget. Small bore instruments play higher with ease, but the sound breaks up in fortissimo and the low notes don't sound nice. Large bore trombones play nice big broad tones and the sound holds together in a symphony fortissimo, but they are energy expending and don't work well in amplified situations. Bass trombone should be tackled after learning the fundamentals of tenor trombone.An intermediate player will take the advice of his/her music teacher or bandmaster and internet resources like the Online Trombone Journal. So what does a [b]beginning[/b] player look for?A medium bore student model trombone. No F-valve, just a straight Bb tenor trombone. Get a good secondhand one, so that if you decide later to switch to a smaller or larger bore, you will get your money back when you put the old one on eBay. That is if you don't decide to keep it. You never need sell it, they are versatile and a change of mouthpiece and technique can have you fitting in just about any musical setting you and your trombone might find yourself in.I would say the best buy for a new trombone player is something like a Yamaha YSL-154 (or its predecessors 351, 352 and 354)or Jupiter student model, followed by student models by King, Bach, Conn, or Holton (all American) or Blessing and recent Boosey and Hawkes from the UK. Why?Student models are designed to be easy for a beginner to play, and make good general purpose instruments for advanced players. They are often more robust than "professional" instruments and most instrument repairers are familiar with them. Replacement parts are readily available.The Yamaha has a generally "fatter" sound than the King/Bach/Conn/Holton student models. It is a sound that other musicians in your band generally prefer. It is actually a loose copy of the Conn 6H or 100H professional trombone and feels very similar when played side by side. Jupiter student trombones are very similar to the Yamahas.Secondhand trombones by the established manufacturers are easy to look after. They retain their value well, again the Yamahas in particular are good. Both Yamaha and Jupiter have very consistent quality of output -- one from 1985 plays very much like one built in 2006.The latest Yamahas come with an excellent protective carry case that all other instrument manufacturers should take note of. If I could get one I would buy one for myself!Any instrument you buy should be straight, free of dents, and the slide should move freely. When properly lubricated, a good slide will fall by gravity when the trombone is inclined to just below level -- about 10cm from horizontal.So who am I to be saying all of this? Any opinion should be evaluated in the light of who it is that is offering it! I am an amateur player that is principal trombonist of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra. I studied trombone at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and have played trombone professionally in rock, jazz, shows and in large ensembles. I also play in brass ensembles, brass bands and quintets. I have taught trombone up to and including bachelor of music undergraduates. I have owned and played at various times Conn 8H, 88H, 6H, 48H and 100H models; Bach 16M, 36B, 42BO and 50B; King 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B and 7B, Yamaha 851, 442, 685, 351, 352, 354, 154; Edwards T350, and alto trombones by Yamaha, Bach and Glassl.
