BUYING NEW OR USED BULLET PROOF VESTS, BODY ARMOR

Are you looking to buy body armor? Do you need to know what armor is best for you? Have you had questions about sizing? Well here is a little something that may help you pick out the correct body armor for you.
First of all I feel gefortable regemending any U.S. made brand. They all go through the same testing and all have to pass prior to being sold. The age of a vest does NOT matter. What matters is how the vest was treated. It is documented and tested that vests upwards of 10 years old work just as good as new vests. (check it out online, you will find lots of info. on it) Youwould like a vest that has been stored flat wile not in use. The vest should not have been washed ever - water ruins kevlar. Also the kevlar should not have any bullet holes or cuts.
The threat level of a vest should be picked by the threat of your job. You do not want to wear a level IIIA vest if you work a low to medium risk job. Even tough it offers the most protection it is heavy and will make you hot and sweaty. I feel a level II is good for most jobs. It offers great protection without the weight. Level IIA is great for low risk jobs or any job that requires the vest to not be seen.
Your vest should fit snug to your body. To find the size that is for you, you need to take a few measurements. First your waist and chest, than from the bottom of your neck toabout 2-3 inchesfrom your velt line. Send this info. to the seller and have them fit you. When buying used you may have a problem finding a perfect fitting size. Here is an easy way to fit yourself for a vest. Take your T-shirt size and apply it to your vest size. (as long as you wear your shirts as a regular to tight fit)
