Lab created or Synthetic Gemstones are Man made "Duplicates" of a natural gemstone.

Gem manufacturing falls into two categories:

The "flux melt system" isused by takingthe geponent ofa gem like corundum and put it in a pot made of platinum tat than can hold a high temperature.
First it is melted andthen a small piece of natural corundum is added.This is usedas a seed...then wait andlet it "grow"... A lab gem grows faster and cleaner than in nature.
That is why the lab rubies and sapphire are cleaner.
The "Hydrothermal system" ...Takes a high temperature too but the geponents are melted in water and the tool used looks like a peculator you might have at home.
This system shows that the gems are even "cleaner" than the melt system and they ~grow faster~
...Sometimes in a few days or even hours...
Just Remember that a gemologist can tell you if the gem is natural or lab grown.
Tips on Buying Colored Stones:
When looking at unmounted stones, view them through the side as well as from the top
Remember that color is one of the most important considerations
View the stone against a "Dead-White" Background
Check the stone's color in several different types of light
Give special attention to the wearability...Fragile stones will not hold up
to daily wear...

Is this a genuine, natural stone, or a synthetic?
