VINTAGE Fakes

Well, I could not gee up with a better title than Vintage Fakes similar to fake Gucci, Chanel, yes all of this, still horribly all over okay and to think I was a victim of a VINTAGE fake, me, vamp of vintage! I won a dress on okay! First of all I loved the look and color, but what mostly made me want to have it was the fact in was VINTAGE. My chance to own a maxi dress from the past and not be wearing one made today! The seller stated the dress was a soft guaze and smocked in the bodice and from the 1960's, it was also listed in the Vintage 60s hippie catagory, and the seller has over 2000 feedbacks and a write up in popular fashion magazine on her "vintage style and fashion finesse!" ... how could I go wrong?! Me, the vamp of vintage bid and won! The dress arrived promptly to my boutique, I tried it on and fell in love, I decided to wear it to a party I was having at my home on Memorial Day weekend! My niece said "I love your dress I saw it too." ... need I say more (she does not buy clothes of this sort, and least of all on okay) "you did? where I asked online?" no Target she said sweetly I was going to see if my mom liked it for Mothers Day, I was perplexed to say the least and thought well she could be mistaken she is not into my kind of fashion she has her own young thing going on. The following day. I went to Target for a Starbucks coffee fix and a snoop at the clothing and BOOM there it was my dress I won on okay , the dress I wore to my party, the shop owner of one of the finest vintage boutiques in my region, TRICKED! eeeek! There were dozens of them in sizes from XS-XXL all the same color and a choice of blue and red too! the price was great, less than I won it for... so I bought a blue one and went home. I showed the dress to my husband to do a gepare (two different colors) but same stitched and my okay dress had the label cut out! He also is not a fashion monster, but, he knew it were the same stock as he had worded to me. Ok.. I am off my soap box, I am over it, I wear the two long dresses here at home and to sleep in as they are very gefy! I do believe okay should have a vintage inspired category in hopes to stop the utter confusion. I realize okay likes seller's to list in several categories for maxium exposure and I like to list in 2 separate categories in hopes to attract a new client, or perhaps the client who does not know how to search on okay... When I list in the Womens Clothing category I type VINTAGE before any other word, to let the shoppers know my item in not new. Some of us love old!... What concerns about this is, how many of you are a victim of this! I love new clothes, too! Many of them are just as nice as vintage, but they are NOT vintage they are new and there are hundreds in many shops throughtout the nation. When you want something unique something no one will have or at least a tough time finding! you do not want a TARGET dress that is mis represented and listed. My suggestion to vintage fashionistas ask the seller if it is true vintage, if they are uncertain there are many clues to help, zippers labels, union labels, or state you are uncertain and at least let the buyer make the choice, as it is getting very difficult to tell the fakes apart, it is hard to determine old from new especiallly on a geputer screen.
