There are two versions of the Disneyland Tom Sawyer Island brochure /
map dated 1957, but one of them is actually from 1976.
Pictured above is the 1957 version of the brochure. Note that
there is a copyright notice on the left side below the raft. The
text reads:
c 1957 Walt Disney Productions
The 1976 version of the map / brochure
ALSO says c 1957 Walt Disney Productions, but this text is on the right
hand side. On the left had side, reads:
D-776-R-3
In this instance, the 76 probably stands
for 1976 and the 7 probably stands for July. This would be the
date the brochure was printed. It was probably distributed a few
months afterwards.
There are slight differences between the two brochures. The 1957
version is slightly larger and has slightly different font for the
text.
The interior map of the 1957 brochure shows rafts from the mainland
hitting the island at 2 points: Tom's Landing from Frontierland
and Huck's Landing from Indian Village. In 1972, the Indian
Village disappeared to make way for Bear Country / the Country Bear Jamboree, and the
rafts to Huck's Landing went with them. The 1976 map still shows
Huck's Landing. It just doesn't say what the landing is for.
Also in the 1957 guide, there is a notation that Tom
